Kate Attends the 2018 ISIS Neutron Training Course

Kate attended the ISIS Neutron Training Course this month, which is a 10-day course that enables PhD students to gain hands-on experience using the instruments at ISIS, alongside complementary lectures. As part of the physics group, Kate had the opportunity to perform experiments on several instruments including HRPD, Merlin and Maps. Neutron scattering experiments will form a key part of Kate’s research into the magnetic structure of layered kagome antiferromagnets.

Thanks, in particular, are owed to Helen Walker and Christy Kinane, who organised an excellent itinerary including a pub quiz, despite the snow! The group took advantage of cancellations by exploring Oxford and especially enjoyed seeing the shrunken heads at the Pitt Rivers Museum, as well as one or two trips to The Narrows.
